Right now (unclear if it’s been different before) I’m only getting the green checkboxes in the web browser; iOS, Nvidia Shield and Google TV are all showing the old yellow triangles.
As it’s only in the browser, has anyone set up custom CSS that restores the old triangles for unwatched content? The inconsistent logic is really bothering me. That all apps have the old look might be good though, is this being rolled back?
My assumption, based on how I’ve seen it creep… is that they’re rolling it out slowly. Normally, when changes like this occur… it has to hit one of the bigger clients like Roku and if it’s really unpopular, it gets a LOT of noise.
Jellyfin has similar setup (and so does Emby) using checkmarks for watched; Jellyfin forums have CSS to swap it around so you might be able to use that as reference if you want to setup something custom for yourself.
Yes, this is what I’m bothered by as well. If all my clients matched I’d just have to adapt. I wouldn’t like it, but it would at least be consistent. And it’s crazy for it to not even be consistent within a single client.
When browsing the episodes of a season within a multiple-season show, episodes are numbered in the corner, with a green “watched” check. This is the only place that uses green “watched” checks. (The Play/Watchlist/Share/(…) buttons are BELOW the episodes. And there’s no way to mark a whole Season as watched.)
When browsing the episodes of a single-season show, episodes are numbered underneath, and there’s a yellow “unwatched” triangle. This is the most annoying inconsistency. (The Play/Watchlist/Share/(…) buttons are ABOVE the episodes.)
Everything else uses also yellow to indicate “unwatched”. Triangles for individual episodes, triangles for movies, squares for multiple episodes.
I prefer the markings for “watched” instead of unwatched, but it appears the green color doesn’t jive with the Plex themes and never changes color (no?) and the green circle/black box is seems larger (more coverage) than the triangle. I’d prefer a sort of check mark next to the Title text under the poster instead of covering the poster.
