Sorry Linux rookie. Can you help me with commands to implement you solution. I believe I am having same issue…ubuntu 20.04, PMS, Hauppauge WinTvquad Pcie. Won’t detect tuner when setting up plex dvr, just spinning.
Choose your favorite editor.
Open /etc/group
Find the line that starts with video
Go to end of the line and add “,plex” (it should look like the line in the solution above)
Restart plex. Video card will show up
(Do not add the quotes to the line)
Uhm…no, do not do that.
Do it the proper way, you should never just start editing files. Especially if you are a n00b and would then have a completely broken system if you mess up a system config file.
sudo usermod -a -G video plex
