Hauppauge WinTV Dual HD Stick not working with OpenMediaVault

I recently bought a Hauppauge WinTV Dual HD Stick (Model 01590). Unfortunately, I can not see any DVB-C channels in Plex.

I have the Plex Media Server running on a Debian Jessie system (OpenMediaVault 3.0.99 - Linux Kernel 4.9.0-0.bpo.4-amd64)

According to the Plex page, the dualHD Stick has Linux support under Plex. Unfortunately, I only find an installation guide for Ubuntu on the Linux support page of Hauppauge. However, I need a tutorial for Debian 8.

I have already read dozens of forum posts on this topic and followed some guidance, unfortunately without success. I have also tried the somewhat unclear described instructions on this page to implement, also without success.

Although my Plex server detects the dualHD stick, when trying to perform a channel search an error message from Plex appears "No channels found. Make sure your device receives a signal and try to scan again. "

What makes me very suspicious is the fact that other programs, such as TVheadend with Kodi working fine. From this it can be concluded that the firmware and drivers were installed correctly, I suppose …?

Could you help me with this problem or give me some tips?

Really? Anybody? Could someone from the Plex-Team give me some advice?

Right there with you. I’m in a very similar boat on CentOs. I finally got the OS to recognize the tuner by booting to the 4.17 kernel, however the channel scan gives me the same message as yours. I’d love to find a solution to this.

I feel pretty let down by the Plex team. And I pay for this Bad Service every month?

Why do other systems like Kodi, tvheadend and Emby work fine with this tuner but only Plex makes problems? Although Linux is supposedly officially supported for this Tuner … well so it‘s obviusly only supported by Ubuntu -_-

Hi ThunderBean, Were you able to find a solution to this issue? I have the exact same issue. My plex was working fine this this tuner. About 2 months ago, I shut down my Plex server to try Emby, which I heard had made some improvements. I just decided to reinstall my Plex server and now I’m getting the same exact message you are getting. My WinTV Dual used to work great. This issue is new. Either Plex no longer supports this tuner, or vice versa. Please let me know if there is a work around available.

I am having trouble here as well. I found the post you mentioned but still cant get it to work. This is likely because I am a linux noob. If you would have a moment to detail a step by step, I think you would be helping a lot of rookies out!

Main things I am struggling with are (real noob stuff I am sure):

I am pretty sure I am using the wrong commands to edit my apt source list.

It looks like I have firmware-linux-nonfree installed so OK there.

I dont know how to upload the firmware to OMV.

FYI I am on Kernel 4.14.0 but perhaps I should update to 4.17? Not sure how to do that but I am pretty sure I can put that together.

I am new to linux and it is a daunting task to get started! any help is appreciated!
