Have Plex Pass But Can't Create A Premium Music Setup

I have a lifetime plex pass and I am NOT able to create a Premium Music Library. I have searched through the forums and can not find a solution. When I create a Music Library, it does not give the option for premium via a plex pass. When I look in my account settings, it does show that I have a lifetime plex pas. My main server runs FreeNAS and plex is setup with a plugin. My desktop machine that I am using as a plex client is Windows 10. In the last two months, I had to rebuild my FreeNAS server and everything else is working fine. I access plex on my TV’s via Roku Boxes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob Ivey

When you create music library, (add library>>select type music) then you add your source folders, then go to options and select “Create a premium Plex music library!”

You cannot use the Gracenote features (which currently pretty much define a premium library) on FreeBSD.
Gracenote doesn’t provide the necessary software support for FreeBSD.

You can only use a workaround and set up a Docker.

The “options” item does not show up on my system at all. All that I get is “select type”, “Add Folders”, and “Advanced”. I have verified that I am properly logged in and it does show that I have a lifetime plexpass. I am at a loss. Are there any other settings that can effect this? Thanks

@bobivey as said by @OttoKerner this is not supported on FreeBSD this is mentioned in our supported articles and there’s a huge thread about this here > Premium music features :(

tl;dr gracenote doesn’t ship a FreeBSD version of their libraries making it impossible to use this in FreeBSD

Does that mean that I will not be able to see what is seen in the screenshot on the second post of this thread at all? I just finished reading the thread you posted and that makes me ask, What other server software does plex support? I don’t want one of these things like Synology or others of that type. I would want a stand alone system that I could also use for backing up my data besides the over 10TB of media I currently have.

What are your thoughts. I should say that I know Windows well but I am just starting to learn more about FreeNAS, so learning something new again would not put me that far behind. My main concern is really safe long term storage and redundancy of data.

Thanks.

Why not ask the question, do you need Premium Music Libraries!? Many users stick to FreeNAS regardless of that, cause normal libraries do all they need, but it’s really up to you to decide. We do support several Linux distros and Premium Music Libraries are supported there. If you do think that’s a must check or downloads page and see what’s best fof you.

And yeah on freebsd you would not see them option at all.

Music is not a deal breaker but I am having a problem with the standard music library not showing the album titles. It shows the artist and the songs but not the album titles. I am working on that issue now. I am going to start looking for the required format for this in Plex.

I only asked about alternatives because in the thread you recommended, there was a comment that there was a chance that Plex would discontinue support for FreeNAS. I could have misunderstood the comment but I was not sure…

Thanks for your help.

That’s indeed odd and it might be because of the naming of the files/folders.

I don’t think there are plans to deprecate FreeNAS (or FreeBSD really) soon.

After the PMS Server Update I received yesterday, I too do not have the option of a premium music library. It was available before.

I am using nVidia Shield for PMS

This is expected, see the release notes in Google Play or this post for details:

Option has disappeared for me too. PLEX folks need to get their updates straight. It would be nice if we could contact them rather than doing 99% of the beta testing for them. I would pay extra if direct support was available.

I have a Plex Pass and am unable to use the Premium Music. Running Win 10 x64.

Exact same issue on my side.
