My library is over 40tb each drive has 2 folders , TV shows Folder and Movie Folder every movie is in its own folder title(year) movie is title(year) and poster and fanart. I thought PLEX was supposed to use the title of the movie and year to look it up since its not smart enough to read the nfo file in the folder title.nfo. 1000’s of movies I have information inside the mp4 file right click properties and details where I have title.1080.bluRay and now my library of Movies are all screwed up ! Even doing some searches the movie doesn’t show up because its not look for the the name of the Folder or the Name of the Movie but inside the mp4 container !
Did I use the wrong PLEX scanner ?
At least Kodi has adons to scan my library for problems and shows me if I did something wrong.
For your movie library(ies), you should be using “Plex Movie” for both the agent and scanner. For your TV library(ies), you should be using “Plex TV Series” for both the agent and scanner. You can check which agent and scanners you’re using by editing a library and navigating to the advanced tab.
If you have embedded tags and they’re causing problems, disable “Prefer local metadata” on the advanced tab of your library configuration. This will cause Plex to ignore the embedded tags, which can interfere with matching if the embedded titles don’t match. Rescan the library and refresh metadata after making this change.
Well Yep I had that one tagged ! Didnt know my info inside the MP4 was considered a tag. I use it to tell me what I have without having to play it in VLC to see what it is. “Prefer local metadata
When scanning this library, prefer embedded tags and local files if present.” is now OFF. So just do a refresh ?
I am sure you know all about MCEbuddy when using the program all you have to do is hover over a checkmark with the cursor and it gives you details what it will do if used. hint hint also notice the Windows version doesn’t utilize the mouse for changing items no right clicks to give you short cuts.
I use Ember Media Manager which uses IMDB convert to nfo.
I choose the Posters and Fanart.
I like doing my own work is tinyMediaManager work with PLEX ?
PowerRenamer in Microsoft Power Tools is helpful for simple renaming with pattern matches or regular expressions. It makes quick work of tasks such as adding a year to file names, removing undesirable text from multiple files, etc
Yes it does. That’s what I use for my movies.
This is a free version if you don’t have it already
TV show format
Show Name: ${showTitle} (${showYear}) {tvdb-${showTvdb}}
Season: Season ${seasonNr2}
Episode Name: ${showTitle} (${showYear}) s${seasonNr2}e${episodeNr2} ${episode.title}
Movie format
Folder format: ${title} (${year})
File format ${title} (${year}) {imdb-${imdb}}
It will pull the imdb id’s and add them to the file name automatically. I recently did over 6,000 movies and I didn’t have any mismatches
Well the Dance is over WORKED Great ! Everything is showing up correct so far. I opened it up this morning and NO Movie in my library after it was dumped. Everything is scanned in. Couple of Dupes so I scrolling down on my Windows 7 PC on the server but I am getting carpal tunnel using the mouse to roll down viewing for errors. Isnt there a way to use the keyboard down arrow or Page down to review ?
OUCH Yea My WMC on 7 works great and is where XBMC was born and PLEX spin off. Even Kodi supports scrolling with keyboard and Shift+Letter for quick search. It is the 21st century Tough to edit Plex if those features don’t work.
reading on TinyMediaManager I have no problem paying for the options to better use it for PLEX The problem I have is they are like the New Windows Software out to leach on you every YEAR by renting the program. Like they are giving you product like Netflix. they are not.
