Having a problem with my server when it comes to the ps4, saying the server needs a update!

Which versions of Plex Media Server AND Plex for PS4 do you have installed and what exact error message do you get?

server version: 1.4.2.3400
ps4 version: 1.05
and it says when i go to the ps4 that the media server is out of date and needs to be updated to 1.5.1 or higher but when i check both the server and the ps4 it says its already up to date!

Well… let’s call your current PMS version „well aged“ :wink:
The most recent beta is v1.14, the public releases is v1.13.9. … v1.4.2 is almost 2 years old (released in Feb 2017).

You might want to download the latest version from https://plex.tv/downloads

i tried to download it again but it stayed as ver. 1.4.2

What system are you running your Plex Media Sever on?
What did you do after downloading?

From the Plex Media Server version history (under Announcements in this forum):

Plex Media Server 1.4.3 is now available for everyone.

FIXES:

  • (macOS) Automatic updates from 1.4.2 were failing. (#6435)

This is another reason why I download each version from the Plex.tv web page rather than use the ‘automatic’ update function built into Plex. It’s not bulletproof. And I can archive the versions in case I want to revert. Just download the new version and install.
