Having a problem with the new quality choice adjuster on Roku

Hello,

I’m running into my first encounter with the new option that pops up to allow a user to change their remote bandwidth setting.

One of my far off international users has been set to “3 Mbps 720p” for several weeks now and things have been running well with no buffering issues on their new Roku 4K+ stick. However, recently they had one day were they encountered some buffering and Plex popped up a message along the lines of “would you like to change your connection?” The user answered “yes” and the quality dropped to 0.7 Mpbs and things ran from there.

My question is how to get them back to 3 Mbps?

I had the user look in the Settings → Maximum Remote Quality and it is still set to 3 Mbps 720p so I thought maybe the setting change was just for that one movie, but now it appears every movie/show they watch now is running at 0.7 Mbps.

Perhaps I don’t understand how this new quality adjustment works. Can someone help me understand it and tell me how to set the user back at 3Mbps, since they were running fine for several weeks?

Thanks

Make sure they turn off (uncheck) Quality Suggestion, then set Remote Quality to 3 Mbps.

FYI:
When Quality Suggestion is checked, the option for remote streaming speed is Maximum Remote Quality.
When Quality Suggestion is unchecked, the option for remote streaming speed is Remote Quality.

Thanks FordGuy61, I’ll give that a try.
