Having difficulty using the store app as a remote player

The windows store app is my preferred way of viewing plex. However, I would like to use the iOS app to control the player. This is supposed to be possible according to the support page but when trying to connect in iOS it doesn’t seem to work.
The player also doesn’t show up in the web app. However, PMP I can control with the iOS app and web app without issue.

Unsure if I have an error in my setup somewhere. Assistance is greatly appreciated!

Same here bump

I have this issue as well…

Perhaps your Windows machine has the firewall set so it won’t accept incoming requests? Check your network type and make sure it’s set to private and not public.

If it works on PMP on the same machine why would it not work for the windows store application?

Because store apps are completely sandboxed and locked down so they likely behave differently especially when it comes to networking.

Is `act as remote player’ enabled in settings?

act as remote player is set
I can see the store app in the iOS plex app, I can’t see it from the web app though on the same computer.
When I try to connect to the player in iOS it disappears, unlike when connected to PMP or the web app through iOS.

Network is set to private.

I have tried to figure this out; without sounding to dumb, exactly what do they mean be “remote player”?

You have two parts: the controller and the remote player. The remote player is what will play the video, the controller is what you use to pick, play, pause, etc. For example, my Nexus 6P Plex app can control the Shield TV Plex app.

So essentially you use the one device is a remote control for the player on the other?

Yes. Refer to the FAQs:

Hi, anything I can do now to assist with this? Really been preferring the UWP interface over PMP still. The remote not working is all that’s missing for me to switch.

I have this problem too and just started my own post, any ideas on a fix?!

I’m also still having this problem. The remote player shows up on my iOS list of players, but when I try to play anything, it just spins… and does nothing
