Can someone Help? I installed the latest version of Plex Media Server and now I cannot play movies. TV shows work just fine and they are in the same format MKV and MP4. The frustrating thing is that I can watch movies remotely or on my Iphone. It is locally via Amazon Fire TV and LG Smart TV plex app that only Movies will NOT Play. Please HELP!
It’s likely that your phone is transcoding the files which is why it’s working. Can you disable direct play/stream on the Fire TV and see if the movies play?
I have tried disabling direct play and direct stream. It did not help.
I ran into a similar issue. Turned out anything with 5.1 audio wouldn’t work anymore.
The magic combo for me was leaving direct stream on and turning direct play off for the fire tv app.
I ended up replacing my Router as I was having Internet issues as well. I tried RempelRanch’s suggestion and now some movies will play, others still won’t. Not really sure what the deal is.
