I have been running Plex for about six months. Today I bought a lifetime pass. I went to go to reenable the DVR. it had previously been enabled when I ran a one-month test with no issues. At that time, the HD homerun 2 Tuner connect old version installed instantly.
Now. Plex cannot find the tuner. Nothing has changed about the configuration. However, the leftmost greenlight of the tuner is on, supposedly the DHCP server was found. Also, I can see that an IP address has been issued, and it responds in under 7 ms when I ping it. I have an IP address monitor, and it says that the device was last active every time I plug it in
If I run HD homeruns firmware update software, it also cannot find the tuner device.
PS the mac. and the Plex have both been rebooted. The cable and antenna and Internet configuration was not even unplugged from several months ago, when it was working.
try logging directly into your hdhr device via web browser, you will need the device ip.
from there you should get a menu and be able to see tuner status and channels, make sure that the tuner is not set to CABLE when it should be OTA or something similar (not at home to verify).
The problem ended up having to do with the DHCP server on the Apple router. It was attempting to issue an IP address for the tuner that was a different IP address from four months ago. As soon as the DHCP server was configured to reserve the old IP address for the tuner, and re-issue that same IP address to the tuner it worked perfectly.
For anyone else who is having the same problem… there is conflicting documentation about the lights on the HDHR website. The light on the front of the unit does not indicate DHCP success. The light underneath the ethernet connector on the rear of the unit Will be solid if a DHCP address has been successfully issued. The light will flash Green if a DHCP address has not been issued successfully. The left most light on the front appears to just be a power light. Model HD HR 4US
