Hello,
me from Germany. I have bought a HD HomeRun Dual HDHR3-EU with Firmware 20161117. I have tryed to set up dvdr, without success. The automaticly search have found nothing, and when I try to add the device by the ip i get an error. I have read the how to on the pinned post, and there are all HDHomeRunDevices supported.
I have tryed the latest plexpass (V1723878) and the latest non plexpass 1.5.6.3790 without any luck.
Please be so Kind an give me some advice.
Thanks in advance
I have old HDHomeRun Dual (white). Actually three of them and two HDHomeRun Prime units.
I have successfully setup the old HDHomeRun Dual for use in Plex DVR. I also briefly tested it out and it seemed to work fine even with live TV.
When attempting to add an additional tuner, in this case the HDHomeRun Prime to an existing HDHomeRun Dual in Plex DVR, the setup wouldn’t go to completion. For some reason it wouldn’t go past the selection of region. Once I selected USA it would just hang and wouldn’t fill the device channel / guide channel grid.
However, starting over by deleting DVR, I was able to start over. By setting up with the HDHomeRun Prime first I was able to add the HDHomeRun Dual after.
This was on PMS 1.7.2.3878 on Synology NAS.

Hello, thanks for the answer, so there will be still a chance to get the device running? Or have I messed up 99€ for a useless device? I still can’t add it to plex. I’d doesn’t matter what version of plex I am using. What exactly do you mean with the region ? Where I have two change it? On plex itself?
Thanks for more advice:)
During the Plex DVR setup you are asked for your location. This is presumably for channel and guide listing information. If you haven’t seen it yet then you haven’t been able to get far enough along the installation process.
Basically what I was saying is that I have the old HDHomeRun Dual (white model) and even that seemed to work in the latest version of Plex Media Server version 1.7.2.3878.
I’m guessing you have the newer version HDHomeRun Dual HDHR3. Either way it should work.
I’d suggest you make sure you are running the latest version of Plex Media Server and Make sure your Plex Pass is in order.
After that you can try rebooting your HDHomeRun to release / renew its IP address.
You can also try restarting the Plex service.
It also might be a good idea to test the HDHomeRun Dual with the Manufacturers software to be sure it’s working properly.
I personally prefer to have my HDHR devices assigned with a static IP Address using the DHCP settings in my router.
I assume you can see the device on the network from the my.hdhomerun.com page since you mentioned the device is on the 20161117 firmware.
You didn’t mention the OS of the computer running your Plex Server. Have you tried turning off any firewall software running on the Plex Server computer to see if it is causing any problem with Plex connecting to the HDHR device?

Hello,
how I can set a static ip for the hdhr? I see the ip of the device in my router and I tried to set it manually in plex without success. Yes I can see the device in the homerun software and it worked properly. I run plex in a Docke on centos7. I don’t know if this is has a firewall. I don’t have set up one.> @Octavean said:

Yes I have the hdhr3-eu version. I have test it with the latest plexpass and non plexpass version. How I can reboot the device? I have just turned it of, but the ip are still the same. With the original software from the manufracturer it works like a charm.
I was not asked for the region. I hang in the search for the Hdhomerun device.
Most routers have a DHCP area where you specify the MAC address of the HDHR device which should be on label on bottom of HDHR and what IP address you want that device/MAC address to always be assigned. Look in your router documentation.
I don’t run in a docker so am not sure why you can’t see the HDHR from Plex in the docker. My assumption is that there is a network issue between network the docker is using and the network your HDHR and computer are on. Maybe someone else running Plex in Docker will chime in here. I recall seeing some other posts about setting vimage I think but don’t recall if that was for docker or not so don’t rely on that.

I guess it will be possible there a firewall active in centos7. I mean I have read something about it. I will Google. At least I do install plex in a jail on freenas to test it there and see if will work.
Thanks for all the help.
I have installed the Plex plugin on my Freenas Server and tried to set up Plex dvdr… again with no success.
Also I have set a static IP for the receiver.
I Need help please.
Try posting to the freenas section of the forum, someone might have some tips.

This is not a freenas problem. It would be really nice if some of the developers can give a statement :
Is device is supported or not. What’s so difficult on it? It seems me not alone with this kind of reciver. There are many posts in the forum with problems like this.
So will it be supported, and if not yet, so in the near future. And if not, please change the list of the supported homerun devices. it’s just sad to waste 100€
Yes, the device is supported, every HDHomeRun is.
Many people on this thread have told you it works, even.
I can’t tell you why your setup doesn’t work, since you haven’t posted logs or anything that would actually help troubleshoot the issue, but I would suggest, to prove its not a freenas/broadcast issue, install PMS on another computer that’s not in freenas and see if that works.

Hello,
thats a Statement. I works. Thank you for it. Please find attached the logfiles. I will try to install a Plex Server on my Windows10 Maschine to see if it will work on it.
Thanks again for your help
Edit: never mind… on my Windows Maschine it works… but what now? I Need to run this on my nas (FreeNas) Server.
Edit2: I have installed Plex on my windows 10 virtual maschine running on my freenas server and it also works. It seems the problem depends on Plex for centos (docker). Also Plex for freenas (plugin) has the samepProblem.
Edit3: I have figured out the Problem. It seems the firewall blockes the Receiver. If i turn of the firewall, everythings seems to work.
I am not able to find the port who be used by the reseiver. Do anyone know the port?
port 65001 is discovery, 5004 is video I think. I’m not exactly sure, but poking around google/silicondut forums would probably help.
Thank you guys for all the help you given to me. Because of some strange behaviour with crashing playbacks i have moved my installation from the centos7 vm to a windows10 vm. There everything runs smooth and without any problems.
Thanks a lot.
