Plex is not releasing the tuner on HD Homerun when I change to another channel. It will reset in about 15 minutes but that’s not quick enough. Is there a tuner that works better or is it just Plex not sending a signal?
I have a HDHR Extend, and don’t experience this issue. If I’m using PMP on a computer to watch Live TV and stop playback, then I can’t switch over to a web browser and hit refresh fast enough to catch it before it releases, so less than ~2 seconds.
If you use the HDHR client directly does it release tuners faster? If not then that suggests it is something with your HDHR. If it does release faster with the HDHR client, then would you be able to post debug level Plex Server logs from a few minutes after recreating the issue (e.g. stopping playback and waiting for the tuner to release.)
I recall reading on here somewhere that the tuners don’t release straight away in case there was a brief issue with internet connection. Plex drops the stream as you say after a predetermined time. When I want to change channels I stop the stream first and then I don’t experience the issue of temporarily running out of tuners.
You don’t mention what client you are using. When Plex first added PIP to the android client if you hit the back button instead of the x, you would end up with two streams running.
It happens on Shield TV, my s8, and Fire as well as on my pc. It doesn’t matter how I change channels. I’ve tried every different way. Sometimes navigating back to the original channel works. All tuners release in about 10 minutes if left alone, or if I reboot the HD box. Restarting Plex or the client does nothing. Yet it works perfectly on HD Homerun software.
Using the 8.1.1 Android client I cannot replicate this, the only thing I can think of is DNS-Rebinding is causing your connections to be remote instead of local. You can look at the dashboard and see if this is occuring. Other than that I think you will have to recreate and upload some logs.
