I have the latest version of Plex Media Server (1.18.2.2058) running on Ubuntu 16.04LTS. I recently purchased a lifetime PlexPass so I could use live OTA TV and DVR features in Plex. I got an HDHomeRun CONNECT Duo, as the Plex documentation says that device is supported.
I confirmed that my OTA signal is good by connecting the antenna directly to my TV. I connected the antenna to my HDHomeRun and plugged in the network cable and power cable. The HDHomeRun has a steady green link light, which is supposed to indicate that it is up and running.
Both the HDHomeRun and the Ubuntu system running my Plex Media Server are on hard-wired connections to my router - neither device is using WiFi.
When I go to ‘Live TV & DVR’ in Plex, it cannot see the HDHomeRun device. I used nmap in a Linux console window to find the IP address for the HDHomeRun. I manually configured that IP address into Plex. I was then able to complete the DVR setup. The results are weirdly inconsistent. I can watch and record TV. I cannot access any device settings for the HDHomeRun. I cannot search the program guide to find shows that I would like to record. I cannot go back and customize the program guide to remove channels that I don’t want to see listed. In the Plex UI, under DVR setup, I see this message: “Device not found. Ensure your device is powered on and connected to your network.”
How do I get Plex to properly recognize my HDHomeRun?
