HDHomeRun Prime w/Cablecard no guide data

I have a HDHomeRune Prime with cable card and non DRM channels. In the DVR set up it lets me add the tuner, it sees the 180 channels enabled on the tuner and even says it is “cable” in the set up. However, it does not let me choose a channel mapping in the set up.

After it scans, it lists all the channels with the drop down to choose guide data for each channel, but only lists my local channels in the drop down to choose from. How can I add guide data for all the non DRM channels?

Can you see all 180 channels just using the HDHR app? mine in plex shows all even DRM ones but they are greyed out and say protected.

Yes, I see all the channels in the HDHR app and pulls in guide data. In Plex, it sees all the channels too and has the correct name on them but there is nothing in the guide data drop down and only local channels for me to choose guide data from

The drop downs there only have local channels to choose from

Have you tried deleting and readding the tuner? mine gets to where yours is and populates all available channels so I have 300 or so but all those drop downs get populated and im good.

Also what version are you running?

Yes, I have re-added several times. I am on 1.8.1.4139

maybe the lineup data for your cable provider is either not selected properly or not assigned to your area? I saw a guy with a cable provider only recently available in his area, and it seems he had to indicate he was in a zip code that was a legacy area to get all the channel data - just an option to check

I have no option to choose a different zip code in plex that I can see. The guide data populates fine in HDHomeRun software.

You select the zip code when creating the DVR. To change the zip code you must delete the DVR and add it back.

Interesting. So I deleted it and added it back and it let me pick my same zip code and it worked. However, I chose the HDHR Prime this time when setting up. Then I tried to add my OTA Extend and it will not let me choose local channels for that one. So it seems it cannot mix Cable and Antenna program guides to get correct data for each.

No you can’t mix different tuner types in a DVR. Hopefully Plex will allow this in a future release. I am able to use a Prime and Connects configured in an OTA DVR setup because I am only receiving local channels over the cable TV connection my Prime is connected to and the channels rebroadcast over cable match exactly to the local OTA channels. A Plex Employee says this does not work and wouldn’t listen to understand that the channel mappings are exactly the same, local OTA channel 10.1 matches to cable rebroadscated channel 10.1.

@johnm_ColaSC your solution works for me when my tuners work. I simply mapped the OTA channel to the proper Cable channel and could record with it. I just have to watch my recording priorities so that if I am recording cable channels that they are above the local channels because that is how plex (at least used to) assign the tuners.

@lvmickey you will definitely need to test thoroughly to ensure you don’t have aborted recordings. I would highly encourage testing now before the Fall season starts so you don’t miss some episodes. I really hope Plex is planning to bring a multi DVR solution so those with cable and OTA can have separate EPG for each tuner type. If they do allow this I would also like the ability to specify which DVR config to use for recordings for cases where OTA might provide a better resolution.

@johnm_ColaSC agreed it isn’t working at the moment. I am still waiting on the update from our other issue to get back to multiple HDHR boxes recording. I recorded several times back when all 3 were working by reporting linking them to the correct channels on the Cable and they worked. I would fail recordings when the cable shows would be placed lower than the OTA shows and the cable show would try to record on the 3rd tuner which the channel wasn’t active. Once I lowered the recording preference on the OTA show all worked out good.
