HDHomeRun Tuning Option?

I’m seeing some artifacting and picture breakup on my HDHomeRun that I use with Plex DVR. The HDHomeRun is connected to an antenna and receives Freeview channels in the UK.

My Plex server says it’s up to date (v1.12.1.4885 ) and I am accessing the Plex Web Interface via the most recent version of Safari on a Mac (High Sierra).

I suspect I need to retune the HDHomeRun but I’m not sure how to do this within the Plex interface. I’ve found the ‘Manage Channels’ dialog in the Plex web interface (which contains an option to ‘Scan Channels’) but every option in the dialog is disabled (including Cancel and Save) and I have to refresh my browser to dismiss the dialog! Does anyone know the reason for this? Do I have to delete and re-add the tuner to detect new channels?

If I access the HDHomeRun via it’s IP address and use the ‘Detect Channels’ option will this update the tuning for Plex i.e. the Plex interface is purely a channel mapping GUI for linking the detected channels and guide data?

I’m used to working with directly attached TV Tuners and then using the viewing software to scan for channels (e.g. EyeTV) so may have my thinking muddled here - is the tuning stored within the HDHomeRun unit, then all client apps (e.g. Plex) are just viewers?

Try downloading one of the hdhomerun apps. If you’re not seeing similar pixalation you’ll know plex is the issue.
I’ve found that the turners on the hdhomerun don’t handle weak signals as well my Humax set top boxes or TV’s (also in the UK with the HDHR 4 tuner box), so also look at your cabling. I resorted to putting mine in the loft next to the signal amp to get the best performance out of it.

Thanks for the reply, do you know if tuning via the HDHomeRun web interface also updates the channel frequencies that Plex uses?

You’ll need to do the channel scan with the HDHR apps first, then a channel scan in Plex.

Thanks, that partially answers my question that I DO need to run a channel refresh in the HomeRun as well but how do I do a channel refresh in the Plex interface? If I enter Server Settings → Live TV & DVR I can see some clickable text relating to my channels: ‘56 enabled’, when I click this it opens a dialog box with a ‘Scan Channels’ button in it - however every single item in that dialog is unclickable in my browser (including Cancel, Save and the top-right cross to close the dialog). I have to reload the webpage to dismiss the dialog - surely this can’t be right?

It’s almost as if some Javascript is not intializing the events when I open the dialog (I’m using Safari on a Mac BTW).
