HDMI Into DVR Functionality

I have a Nintendo Switch game that supports players using their phones over a cellular connection as a controller. The nature of the game is such that the delay introduced in trascoding would not be a hindrance. The Switch has HDMI out.

What device can I buy to plug the Switch into to get the stream into Plex Media Server?

Very unlikely unless Nintendo contracted Plex to provide a version.
Even if so requested, the device would have to meet minimal requirements for memory and storage.
Most devices do not.

I do not understand why Nintendo would need to work with Plex. It works fine on my TV. It works fine on my CCTV camera screens (has many kinds of inputs). It works fine on the multiplexer I tried in a friends office.

Taking an input and sending it somewhere else other than a screen is a problem? I am just looking for a device that takes a generic input and outputs it in the generic way Plex already understands (MPEG2, in this case).

I am not expecting Plex to do something new. I am wondering what Plex already supports that would allow me to plug in an arbitrary HDMI device and send it over the network (or other means) like Plex already expects.

Plex media server communicates to its client apps over the network.
However those client devices connect to the display (direct or HDMI) is up to the individual device.

Your option is to use an intermediate device, such as appletv, roku, etc to connect but each of those already has HDMI direct output so there is no added value using the Nintendo.

The only true value here is the Nintendo become a Plex client (if it has network capability) and allow PMS to stream to it. The Nintendo can then handle the physical displaying of the image to the TV.

Understood. What device can I buy to plug the Switch into to get the stream into Plex Media Server? I assume this device would function in the same manner as my HDHomeRun Prime except instead of the input being coax it would be HDMI.

Do you have either a Mac or a Windows PC within reach of the Nintendo Switch? If so a device like the post I am linking to can capture and dump the file into a directory that you can share/attach to Plex for your Video library.
