HDR Movies look Grey/Desaturated - Windows 11 - Plex For Windows

As the title says… if I play anything HDR in plex, it just looks grey/muted. If I pause, you can momentarily see the correct colour, but if I play, back to all but greyscale.

I have tried googling but havent found any definitive answers.

I am on Windows 11 using the 64bit Plex Media Player app from their site, direct playing (Not Transcoding!). I have turned SDR to HDR Tone Mapping On and Off makes absolutely no difference for me.

Youtube, or other HDR applications all work perfectly fine - it appears to be exclusive to PLEX.

Anyone got any suggestions?

It’s just so odd that if I pause, everything looks perfect. The second I hit play - back to almost greyscale. It’s driving me nuts.

More testing - this is happening with HDR and SDR - and is going in and out during playback. Played “Heat” 4k SDR for 10 minutes - for about 1 minute of the 10, it was perfect - then it went back to grey, I did not touch a thing during that time… which makes this even harder to diagnose.

Sound similar to Washed out colors on windows player using AMD 5600g Integrated graphics. Unfortunately I don’t have any better information than what I posted in that thread.
