HDR videos does not transcode

Hello, I’ve had some issues with Plex not HW transcoding some videos resulting in high CPU usage, I’ve noticed this only affects videos with HDR. If I turn off “Enable HDR Tone Mapping” Plex Dash shows the file is using HW transcoding but the file fails to play on my device. I receive the message “Something went wrong playing your media”

We need the Server DEBUG logs ZIP file which PMS gives you.

Ideal logs ZIP is:

  1. Settings - Server - General - Show Advanced
  2. Make certain DEBUG logging enabled and VERBOSE logging disabled.
    SAVE if changed
  3. Now recreate the problem.
  4. Stop Playback
  5. Download the logs (Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs)
  6. Attach (upload into the Reply windows) here.

Which host and kernel is this running on?

Not sure why you’re using Docker on Synology as it’s not needed for HDR transcoding anymore.

I see HW transcode here.

Given the iPhone player does a lot of things itself, to rule out the phone app, what happens if you play in a browser ?

I recently changed to running in a container for automatic updates mostly.
I’ve just tried reverting back to the Synology package and its working fine now so I’m going to leave it at that.
