I’m losing hope. I’m very upset with the Plex team about camera upload.
This absence of news or answers on the forums reminds me of the dark times of Plex Cloud
Please support HEIC ASAP!!!
We need this ASAP. I have literal years’ worth of photos that I’m unable to view on Plex.
can’t wait either !!!
This is really terrible, 4 years on this feature is still not implemented. Are you proactively ignoring Apple users?
Come on Plex. Please support this or at least give and update on plans
Another vote for HEIC support. I was wondering why I couldn’t see all my photos and tracked it down to PLEX not supporting HEIC which is the default picture format of iOS cameras.
Yeah, come on PLEX get it sorted… surely HEIC support is basic? literally 350GB of photos I can’t access via PLEX!? What gives?
Another lifetime user here - I want to migrate away from Google Photos but the lack of HEIC is killing me here. Can we please get something going on this? You declared on twitter 3 years ago that you’re wanting to support it and while dev cycles and business are important, it’s been a LONG time.
Another quarterly check in to see if HEIC is supported yet. Nope? Back to regularly scheduled programming.
As an aside, camera upload is a minor thing. I use cloud storage from Microsoft and OneDrive supports auto camera upload. I point Plex to my OneDrive synced picture folder locally, though. The lack of HEIC is a dealbreaker.
It is literally the final feature that would complete my home media “one stop shop” setup.
I’m also a lifetime Plex subscriber for some time. I recently upgraded to an iPhone 12 Pro. I didn’t realize that HEIC was unsupported in Plex until I returned from a 2 week vacation with 1000+ pictures that I downloaded into my Plex photos library only to see none of them show up except a few video clips I took.
It’s disappointing that such a basic feature as support for a popular image file format is unsupported while other functionality continues to be added. Plex dev team, please return to the basics here and add this necessary support. I’m relying on this support to be able to share my family photos!
+1 HEIC/F
I use Plex for years now. Obivously the core-interest of plex is moving into content spread.
The problem is, that new features are coming all the time for this interest, but the given features are not getting any maintanance.
waiting for intro-skiping in jellyfin. Then. Bye
cheers

As much as PLEX are trying to survive the process to transition to a content delivery service for compliance with major vendors, how about you focus on the life blood of your subscription base and actually support local photo and recorded media! Ignoring this is seriously harming the PLEX brand.
Quote from your website: (Your Media | Plex)
“Share, reminisce, and give your moments the spotlight on any device you choose. With feature-rich options for organisation and without the need to upload to a cloud, Plex is the ideal solution for anyone with loads of high-quality photos in any format.”
WRONG & MISLEADING. (False or misleading statements | ACCC)
+1 plz. Unless you support HEIC, you must remove your statement that Plex supports photos in any format.
This is a lie.
False advertisement.
+1 Same here. Amazed this is still not supported.
Please put HEIC support in Plex!!!

Looks like there is no problem to add HEIC support on PLEX. Need more programmers on PLEX team?)
Count me in!
2021 and still no fix? 4 years…That’s a joke. I used to love Plex and how innovative it was. That is no longer the truth.
Quarterly check in…still can’t see HEIC photos? Oh well…
