I am a new user. Please confirm when will HEIC support come?
If it is not going to come in few months, I have to switch to something else.

 here we are 
 everybody complaining that there is no HEIC support.
For me it is quite simple 
 if there is not even a reasonable response, I will not pay for Plex.
At this time I am using the free version and was willing to pay, but glad I didn’t do it so far.
Plex is not getting my money if not even so basic features are supported.

When will HEIC format be supported in Plex? This is very annoying now that I have a phone that saves all my pictures in HEIC. This has been a well documented request for years now.

Unfortunately, no Plex employee has ever posted in this topic and the support article on the subject hasn’t been updated in two years. I think it’s safe to assume this item isn’t on the developer’s radar. As far as I can tell, voting on any feature suggestion is a tool to make users feel good rather than a tool to guide new development. Plex might as well remove this section of the forum.

I just removed the photo library from Plex since it’s useless to me.
Sad to see a good feature die.

Here is my monthly check in to see if this feature is coming or arrived yet. Nope? Oh well, back to regularly scheduled programming


Also, just a heads up that Emby still does not support HEIC, either.

Well 
 I think for me this is the end with Plex. This is such a critical feature for me, that Plex is not enough value without this. As it seems Plex doesn’t care about it and don’t care about their customers. Luckily I didn’t sign up for a paying service, although I was about to until I realized this show stopper. If anybody has another idea for a competitor which has a better photo & video solution supporting HEIC, appreciate any response here.

Ok so 4 years later no changes?
Why official support haven’t tell this 4 years ago: “we don’t care, go and find alternative app, no reason to wait for a years”.
So we just close this post forever.

New April “Plexcerpts” mail with announcements
 and again no news about HEIC in photo libraries. I’m exhausted.
Please, we need official news from you. If you don’t want to implement it, please let us know to find other solution.
