Hi. Apologies for what is probably a stupid question - I am old lol. Anyway I have plex on my iMac , all items are on an ext hard drive ( Samsung M3 1TB) I am going on holiday shortly and want some films on my iPad for on plane and at hotel.Also I have dropbox on both devices- what is best way ( simplest) to achieve my aims

Hi.
Before buying a Plex Pass for a specific feature, look around this forum a little bit.
You will find that for most folks the sync feature does not and has only barely worked for years.
Plex is notorious for selling Plex Pass for features that do not exist, don’t work, or are not finished.
I have been a Plex Pass user for years and NONE of those “Special Plex Pass Features” have worked or have worked without unfixed bugs or completely not at all.

Shame on you @Peter_W for suggesting this when you must know Sync does not work and has never worked properly.

Well, YOUR experience shouldn’t be used as the only example. I’ve used the Plex Sync feature many times, and across different devices, and it has worked perfectly. I’m getting ready to use it again on another international trip here soon.

I also have to say this feature has always worked for me and I continue to use it on a regular basis.

  1. if you’re going to trust Plex’s Goofy Transcoder to do anything - come pre-prepared with pretty low expectations.
  2. Buy Plex’s Pass(out) Feature one month at a time - so you’ll find out what works, what doesn’t, what’s promised, what’s delivered, what’s waiting to be repaired, what got broke on the last update.
