I was syncing my films to my cloudsync over night but it didn't complete for some unknown reason, but now my hard drive on my laptop is completely full (500GB) when before I started to sync I only had about 60GB used on it. Does anybody know what might have happened?
I was trying to cloudsync to my dropbox.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have no idea of finding out what the 400GB+ is on my hard drive or where it is stored so I can delete it. I have all of my media on a ReadyNAS Duo.
Your plex temp folder must have filled up and ran out of memory. When you try to transcode too much at once this can happen. Plex has to transcode the videos and then hold those in a temp folder until they are finished with sync to cloud server. Do this to fix. Go to User/AppData/Local/Plex Media Server/Cache/Transcode/Sync and delete the folder inside of it. The folder will be a Number. If you cannot find a folder called appdata in your user directory, it is because it is often hidden by default so you will need to google how to show hidden folders before you can find it. Hope this helped.
Smitflix, thanks for the help. That deleted 50GB but unfortunately. Do you have any idea on where else I could find some of those files? I've been searching all day.
It's strange as I have an unlimited storage business account with Dropbox so is there no way that I could cloudsync all of my media files at the same time or will this issue keep happening?
Yes there is a way I think. In the settings there is an option to change the location of of the appdata folder. I have not tried this. I was thinking about just moving my appdata folder but after reading about this process online it sounded like it could cause issues so I just opted to only upload so much at a time. Currently I am attempting to find out what the desired format of the mp4's should be in order to get plex to upload them without transcoding at all. I have seen plex do this with certain files but it seems to vary from one to the next. I do not have alot of bandwidth so I am trying to transcode my entire library and then use a friend's fiber optic connection to upload everything at once without having to wait on my gpx card to churn out the transcoded files before uploading.
