Hello,
I have this occurrence where an album is marked as an EP when it isn’t actually an EP- however there doesn’t appear to be a functionality to correct this. As far as I can tell, there is no way to forcibly mark an album as a “Single,” “EP”, or “Album” if it gets matched incorrectly.
Example:
August Burns Red - Messengers (Remixes)
This is a remastering of the “Messengers” album, and it’s an 11-song full-length album, not an EP. I have manually curated the metadata of each file. Nowhere in the metadata does it mention it’s an EP. Using “Fix Match” doesn’t show it as an EP either. Currently local metadata is prioritized over all agent metadata (agents incorrectly match extremely often).
Is there a way to forcibly mark an album as “Single,” “EP,” or “Album”?
Okay. I got the edit in MusicBrainz approved and now it’s officially listed as an Album + Remix. However, in Plex, after fixing the match and manually triggering metadata refresh, it is sill categorized in the “Single & EP.”
After the changes are published, Plex’s metadata cache will take a little time (usually 24-48 hours) to play catch up. Once Plex’s cloud metadata service has the change, your server will be able to fetch updated metadata. This can happen a couple of ways:
Manually: refreshing metadata on the artist or album in question in your library will update it to the correct release type
Automatically: if you’ve got the ‘Refresh library metadata periodically’ preference set on your server, the metadata will update eventually when the server gets to it. Depending on the size of your library, and the length of time you’ve windowed for scheduled tasks, the change will either be within the next day or two, or take up to weeks or months.
