Help - Issue: Plex using PCM instead of Dolby Passthrough. Works perfectly in other apps

Server Version# 1.16.2.1297 on Linux in Docker container (linuxserver/plex)
Player Version#: 2.37.2.996-bea4f9ca on Windows 10

Player and Server are on LAN. Plex set to run original quality over LAN.
Computer using Win10, Nvidia GFX 610 with audio out through HDMI to a Sony AMP connected to a Samsung Smart TV.

Plex uses PCM instead of Dolby Passthrough.

  1. Plex refuses to use Dolby Passthrough on any movie.
  2. VLC from same Windows machine and Samsung TV (netflix, but not plex) have no problem sending the same videos with Dolby passthrough.
  3. All passthrough settings are enabled in Plex App. I’ve also tried toggling Direct Play/Streaming with no luck.
  4. Output is HDMI and tried both auto-detect and specified device.
  5. Also tried using Plex Web APP. Not sure if that’s capable of passthrough though.
  6. I’ve tried fiddling with the dolby receiver without any luck. It was a last ditch effort that I didn’t expect to achieve much considering VLC and Samsung TV worked fine.
  7. On inspection of Nvidia HDMI Audio device it clearly states it supports all Dolby Formats (with the exception of Atmos). Receiver also supports the same. Meaning windows and my receiver are properly set up.
  8. Tried restarting docker plex server manually. It is normally set to restart and update docker container every night.

I’ve googled this subject extensively and found no help. People use all kinds of devices and setups that are different from mine so I can’t find what I need to fix this.

I’ve tried toggling everything. Plex is the only software I have this issue with. Dolby passthrough works sometimes. By that I mean that when it works dolby works on all movies and when it doesn’t all movies are PCM. This has persisted for months now, but it’s only recently that it doesn’t work at all.
