Help me please!

QNAP Server Version: 1.42.2.10156

Synology Server Version: 1.43.2.10687

I have a new NAS and I am migrating from a QNAP to a Synology. I am unable to claim the new Synology Server and map to new locations after installation and after signing in and I select a profile in the app it says I am “Not Authorized” on this server. I uninstalled and re-installed software on new NAS with no luck. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you! I went thru several of the steps and with the same results. Should I stop the old server when doing all of these steps?

If running DSM 7.x, use FAQ 31.

Networking isn’t right…didn’t claim server. Will need to figure this out…

Disable the Synology firewall (for troubleshooting purposes).

Check network basics (Synology Control Panel → Network):

  • Use Private Network addressing (192.168.x.y, 172.16.x.y to 172.31.x.y, or 10.x.y.z).
  • Verify IP address & mask
  • Verify Default gateway (usually router IP address)
  • DNS - If possible, use a public DNS such as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare), 8.8.8.8 (Google), or 9.9.9.9 (Quad9).

Sync the NAS with a public NTP server. If the NAS time is incorrect, it can interfere with claiming. DSM 7: Synology Control Panel → Regional Options → Time tab

All done and verified. Server still unable to be claimed.

All good now! Restarted and came right up…ugh
