Unable to Claim Server

I recently moved my NAS from one house to another. When I reconnected everything, I didn’t have access to my server on Plex; nothing was showing up. I uninstalled Plex on my NAS and then reinstalled through downloading the file from Plex and uploading it. I then added my server again. I went through the set up wizard and everything seemed to be good.

Only now it is saying that I need to claim my server. Cool. But when I click Claim Server, the button spins for a bit, and then nothing happens. I have tried this a handful of times. I just tried one last time where I logged out, accessed Plex again from my NAS, it logged me in, I tried to claim it again, and then it gave me an error saying that it had an issue logging me in.

Here are my logs. I appreciate any/all help and am happy to provide any additional information as needed.

The NAS cannot communicate with servers at plex.tv, which is necessary to claim the server (attach it to your Plex account).

Network Settings

  • Synology Control Panel → Network → Network Interface tab → Edit the network interface
  • Verify the IP address, subnet mask, and gateway are correct.
  • The settings from the previous location may no longer be valid, especially if the new location has a different ISP.

DNS Settings

  • Synology Control Panel → Network → General tab.
  • Configure the NAS to use a public DNS server such as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) or 8.8.8.8 (Google).

Synchronize NAS with NTP server

  • Synology Control Panel → Regional Options → Time tab
  • In Time Setting section, chose Synchronize with NTP Server
  • Pick a server from the drop down list, then click Update Now.
  • You should see Status = Normal.

FAQ 31: Reset / Reclaim PMS on DSM 7 (Not Authorized - Locked Out)

  • Run FAQ 31 to reclaim the server.
  • Pay attention to the message at the end of the process.
