Hi all, hope you can help. My friends have access to my library. Now they have better speed on their internet than me But each time they try and watch a film it plays for 10 seconds then stops and buffers for 5 mins then plays for 10seconds. I have tried everything, low outage for remote etc and nothing works. They also receive slow speed adjust connection. Help please
Well, how fast is your internet connection?
Especially your upload speed?
do you run into this issue locally?
can you go to speedtest.net from the host and post the upload/download and ping times? do this for your friends as well.
dont share your external IP, but do take a record of both.
also record the quality they are attempting to watch the video on. (4.0mbps 1080p / 2.0mbps 720p)
Upload speed is 0.75 …no issues locally download is 9.19MBPS Tried both 1080p and 720

With an upload speed that slow, your friends won’t be able to view anything from your server, unless they dial their quality setting all the way down.
Plex streams the videos directly from your server (that is your computer at home) to the clients. For this reason the upload speed of your internet connection is the main limiting factor.
As OttoKerner said, your upload speed is the limiting factor here .075 is way to low, specially if you have several people try to watch a show. Remember the clients are downloading, but you are uploading the media to them.
yup with 1mb ur not gonna stream. if everyone selected 256kb then you could but it would be bad quality
invest in faster upload or invest in a cloud server.
I run into issues anytime there’s less than a 6Mbit/s link either in the PMS upload or client download speed.
