Hi
I dont get this, why is Plex limiting bandwith when streaming remote? As you can see in this Picture
I have 200 mbps upload from the server and 1gbit download to the client. and it still only using 5mbps.
In both the client and the server i have set to original quality and no limit in bandwith. but still it feels like it limiting remote streaming leading to buffer all the time.
Can some please help me out here.
Looks like an issue with the connection itself, possible bad peering? What kind of speeds do you see if you download a file from the server using the web interface from your client side?
Do you have a VPN to test with from the client side to see if that makes any difference?
So you Think it´s someting to do with my router or server?
Edit* disconnected the Router and pluget my server directly to the internet. Same thing. The stream never pass 10mbit or maybe even 6mbit. I can se it spikes up to 30 mpbs when i start a move, but then it goes down. This must be something wrong i Plex?
There is no control over the route through the Internet. The stream could be passing through a choke point. Imagine two multi-lane freeways connected by a rural 2-lane road. Freeway speed doesn’t matter if you have to cross the rural road.
Having the client download a file from your server could help show the maximum throughput between your server and the client.
You might also have the remote user try with a different client, such as Plex for Windows/Mac. It would provide a second data point for streaming. Plex for Win/Mac can also download files for offline viewing (to check download speed vs streaming).
Hi it was something on the internet after all. The strage thing is that both my test 4G phones needed an update from the ISP on the 4G part, after that it worked fine. So test from 3 different devices gave me a false postive. Thanks for the help
