Help needed: How to get from EPG BROWSE mode back to the EPG grid or to the recording schedule in Plex Web

PMS: 1.18.4.2164 (Windows) → Plex Web 4.12.3

When using Plex Web to control the Plex DVR feature… I was used to switch between EPG grid, browse screen and redording grid by clicking on one of the header “buttons” next to the Live DVR title.

But now, they are missing:

So, I cannot switch away from the browse mode any longer to control my recordings.
ATM I am using - as always - Chrome browser…

The URL which is opening when I do click on the Live TV&DVR button on the left side of the screen is:

http://192.168.94.52:32400/web/index.html

As a hotfix, I could live with the knowledge on what to change in the URL to get back the other views.

But I guess this has to be fixed.

This came again just a while ago in another thread. To restore the tabs, try Settings -> (Plex Web) -> Debug -> Restore Defaults. Mind the warning. This should restore the tabs in the Live TV & DVR.

You could use the hosted web UI: app.plex.tv

I’m pretty sure the issue has been corrected there…

Hi @BigWheel. We discussed this a while back in another thread and I found a way to reliably reproduce it by:

  1. Navigating to Live TV & DVR -> Browse.
  2. Setting filter to Movies, By Release Date, and then selecting a specific channel.
  3. Selecting one of the movies to view its details.
  4. Instead of clicking the back button on the browser, clicking the Live TV & DVR in the upper-left.

I think Otto reported this though and that the fix had been incorporated into the more recent web UI versions. I could be wrong though.

I cannot tell if the procedure generates the shown problem, but using app.plex.tv is not showing this problem (any longer?) if following the procedure.

Is it possible to do a new PMS with that problem fixed?

The procedure above is how to cause the problem to occur. Sorry for the confusion.

The updated web UI will eventually roll out to the local version in an updated PMS version. The local version is generally a few updates behind. The current local version (included in PMS) is 4.12.3 while the hosted version is 4.18.1.

Completely understood. Would be happy to have a newer Plex Web in the local PMS package soon

It is a bug indeed as I was having the same issues that was driving me nuts. The way out of it without jumping through juju bones is actually quite simple. Go to Settings -> Plex Web General and uncheck (if it is checked already) “Remember Selected Tab”.

Save the change, and then, click on “Live TV & DVR” again. This will bring it back to the original layout where you will see “Recommended, Guide, DVR Schedule, Browse”.

I wish, however, that Plex developers fix this bug so these “work arounds” are not necessary.

Thank you for the hint.
It worked… but as soon as you enter the BROWSE button, the top buttons “WHAT’S ON”, “EPG”, “AUFNAHMEPLAN” and “BROWSE” are gone again.

Please fix in a new beta PMS, please.

Are you using https://app.plex.tv ?

No, I am describing how the bug comes up in the local PMS version of Plex Web.

Correct. To recover you need to click back on “Live TV & DVR”. Such is a nature of this bug.

The bug is fixed in the hosted version of the web client so the fix will show up in the local web client eventually.

Thanks. Look forward to this being fixed but works for now.

just started having this issue and it was driving me nuts…hope this gets fixed soon
