HELP NEEDED: Safari 12 update - "can't login to Plex" network "Website not secured" error

Hi, need some assistance. I recently updated my Safari web browser and now cannot cannot login onto our plex network. I get a “can’t login to Plex” error.

This is the link I usually use to login
http://plex:32400/web/index.html#!/server/c0984bd9a04e3db1fcf436ebf6ae7832226bf453?key=%2Flibrary%2Fsections%2F5

You are using your own domain name to load the web app from your server.
This combination doesn’t have a fitting cryptographic certificate. Therefore TLS cannot be used.
(Whether it is necessary to encrypt traffic that only travels within your own home network is another matter.)

After the web app is loaded, the communication between it and the plex server is safe and encrypted, as long as you see the green padlock icon beside your server’s name.

If you absolutely need encrypted loading, use the ‘hosted’ version of the web app:

Thanks OttoKerner,

I downloaded the Plex Media Server, however it just takes me to the Google, Facebook, and email login page.

I did not tell you to download the plex server software.
What are you really trying to do?

Im trying to login into our servers plex account., but Safari is not allowing me to login - “cannot login to Plex.”

I recently updated to Safari 12 and this security issue now appears.

I am not computer savvy, appreciate your patience.

What kind of security issue?
Could you please tell me exactly the wording on your screen?
Even better if you could make a screen shot.

“The Website not secure” error in red

Have you clicked on the link I gave you above?

Please click on it and tell me if the red error is still there:
https://app.plex.tv/desktop

The error does not occur, but I’m not able to login to our local plex server, it goes to the Google, Facebook, and Email login window.

Our plex server page usually looks like this:

That’s exactly where you need to be.
Click on ‘Email’
put in your Plex username or your email address and your password.
