Help! Win 10 crashed. Can't recover Plex server

Server Version#: latest
Player Version#: latest

I run Plex on a Win 10 desktop and long story short my desktop crashed, I had to clean install Win 10.

I installed PMS to my C drive, but I already had all my Plex data on the D drive with the localappdata registry edit (for this very reason).

I updated the registry on the clean install to point to the ‘old’ data on my D drive but the new PMS is not seeing it and created a new server. Now I can’t delete the new server. I signed out and now the server just says “unclaimed”.

I’m stuck. How do I restore my Plex server?

What exactly does this mean? Did you export the whole Plex registry branch into a .reg file? And if so, did you import it after the reinstallation of Windows?

Thanks for the quick reply!! My old config had the PMS application installed on the C drive and I followed these instructions to point all the data to the D drive in its own folder on its own drive.

After I reinstalled the application, I followed the same instructions, editing the reg and pointing it to the folder on the D drive.

I’m not sure how to import a whole .reg file?

I don’t know if it matters, but I didn’t have a chance to log out or shut down the PMS prior to the computer crashing.

Just double-click on it.

This is indeed important. It means that the primary database file is most likely damaged.
In which case it is required to replace it with one of the backup copies: https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/
