I like the cover art for movies to look like the DVD covers but Plex tends to select artwork that shows only the image of the DVD cover with all text removed.
If I hit Fix Match, the image used to show movie options is the preferred artwork though after selecting it Plex downloads something different altogether.
Is there a way for Plex to automatically download a particular type, or style of artwork? I really dislike the plain artwork that is currently used.
I’ve not come across a way to prefer well labeled posters. The usual workaround is to
- observe the mucky poster on your Plex Home screen.
- mouse over the thumbnail and click the Pencil in the lower left corder to Edit
- click the Poster section and choose the one you like
It should persist under normal usage, but there’s also a lock symbol you can try.
There’s no way to change to change what’s downloaded. If you don’t like it you have to change it manually.
You can change it the way nibbles is talking about but for some titles there’s not a lot of choices
For some things like collections, I just copy what I can find on the internet. You can either put the poster in the same folder with your movie labeled as cover.jpg or cover.png.
You can also just drag the picture into the bar on the poster edit screen. If you ever have to rebuild your server those will be gone and you’ll get whatever they throw at you again.

That helps copy whatever you want off the internet. If you “save as” in most browsers a lot of times it gives you as WEBP OR HTML instead of a png or jpg
