Help with Plex plugin in TrueNAS and Intel QuickSync Video

I recently made my first TrueNAS build. It was mainly for Plex Media Server, the problem is I can’t make it use the iGPU for transcoding. It is supposed to use it without any further setup but mine uses the CPU to transcode.

The Specs are:

TrueNAS CORE 13.0
PMS 1.26.2.5797

CPU: Intel Celeron G5905

RAM: 2x Crucial DDR4 8GB Non-ECC 2666MHz

MB: Colorful H410M-T PRO

Boot SSD: HP 128GB M.2 SATA

HDD 1: WD Blue 1TB

HDD 2: Seagate 160GB

The G5905 is a CometLake processor.

You will need to contact the TrueNAS package developer for support.
Specifically, CometLake CPUs need Intel Compute Runtime ver 21.49.21786 QSV and tone mapping.
(they are the ones who created the TrueNAS package)

You will be hard pressed to get up to date HW support with TrueNAS CORE as its built on top of FreeBSD. I suggest you look into the Debian based TrueNAS SCALE

I have HW transcoding with Intel QuickSync working fine on TrueNAS Core 13.0 with an i5-10600k (also Comet Lake).

I followed this guide. It’s an older guide, but it works exactly the same for newer CPUs on TrueNAS Core 13.

Have you done it over the TrueNAS official plugin or did you run the script in the guide?

How can i contact them?

I am not using the TrueNAS plugin. I installed the FreeBSD version from the Plex downloads directly into a new jail.

I could set it up now, and in the jail there is the /dev/drm and /dev/dri folder. But now when it has to transcode the whole server crashes and restarts

Anything logged?

That could even be a hardware fault. Done any hardware stress tests?
