Help with remote access

I have PMS set up on a Synology NAS (DS216j). Everything seems to work fine locally. However I don’t seem to be able to enable remote access.

My setup is Synology NAS cabled to Apple Time Capsule cabled to router supplied by my ISP. The Apple Time Capsule is set to Bridge Mode. The router supplied by my ISP is a Calix 844G-1. All firmware is up to date.

PMS detects the double router setup but simply advises that one router is set to bridge. It then goes into setting up manual port forwarding. Have done that too - at least I think so. All to no avail.

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

Ian

I didn’t configure my time capsule as per those instructions… but am happy with my setup on that… it has been working properly for a long time.

My PMS is set up as you say (see screenshot).

I have set up my port forwarding as you said… which is what I had done before… although I am not entirely sure I have the remote side set up correct (see screen shot)

Still no success… any more advice?

So I don’t set the port forward address as the local port then?

and thanks for the point about using a user name… but I have one set… it’s just that when I log in it comes up with my email address… tbh I am thinking about dropping this whole Plex thing as I can’t get what I want from it… including privacy!

Not keeping things private… is the email address/user name situation…

You can see how I have the port forwarding set up… can you tell me where it is wrong?

Well then perhaps you could answer the subsequent question then as I obviously didn’t understand your answer…

Are you trying to tell me that I need to have the remote port set to the IP address of my server… ? Given you said to use the TCP protocol the only place to set that is the local side… and that is set to my server.

Locusthall is my NAS

Well now it doesn’t matter… I did as you suggested and logged out and logged in again to set (reset? screw up?) my user name… and now I can’t see my server locally so all a bust now…

My host name can only be changed by me… as can the IP address… so surely each would be equally as valid anyway?

When I now open plex to look at my server … there are no servers found… I am running the PMS on the synology… have reset that just in case… am logged in…

Right… thanks for that… now I appear to have access to the server, locally at least…

So you believe I simply need to put the IP address in rather than the server name in my port forwarding? Then I still have to put something in on the remote side of the port forwarding otherwise the router will not accept that configuration…

I have an answer from my ISP… no ports blocked… but they are using CGNAT.
They have given me a specific IP address… but still not getting anywhere… any more advice…?
