Remote access

I have PMS set up on a Synology NAS (DS216j). Everything seems to work fine locally. However I don’t seem to be able to enable remote access.

My setup is Synology NAS cabled to Apple Time Capsule cabled to router supplied by my ISP. The Apple Time Capsule is set to Bridge Mode. The router supplied by my ISP is a Calix 844G-1. All firmware is up to date.

PMS detects the double router setup but simply advises that one router is set to bridge. It then goes into setting up manual port forwarding. Have done that too - at least I think so. All to no avail.

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

Ian

Go to whatsmyip.org and look at your IP address. Next, go to your router and look at the WAN IP. Are they the same?

Yes they are…

Then you don’t have double NAT, so let’s proceed to doing this:

Set up a static IP for your Plex server.
Go into your router and create a manual port forward rule for port 47222 (just an example but don’t use 32400), for protocol TCP, that points to your Plex server’s IP and port 32400.
Save that and power cycle your router.
Go into the Plex server remote access settings, tick the box next to manual port, enter 47222, click apply, then disable remote access, shut down and restart the Plex server application, and enable remote access.
Go to http://www.canyouseeme.org and test port 47222.

I don’t know what I looked at before but the two ip address are NOT the same. PMS does see both of them as private and public… so it seems I do have double NAT…?

Sorry for misleading info
