Hi there, I’m trying to use a Playstation tuner that works fine under windows either using WMC or SichboPVR. I read somewhere that even though my tuner is not officially supported by Plex that it should still work. Problem I have is I can’t see the tuner when I try to add a tuner in setup. Any ihelp would be much appreciated.
Where did you see this? I haven’t seen anyone report that this was working.
Sorry I should’ve been clearer, I was of the understanding from reading if a tuner was recognised with BDA drivers that it would show with a exclamation mark but you could still add it. Is there any reason why if a tuner works fine under windows why can’t Plex support it? This tuner also works fine running on Linux as well.
Plex needs tuners to work in a certain way. Working at the OS level isn’t the only requirement. Which is why the supported list only includes specific devices and not “all Windows compatible tuners”.
Thanks for your help, in the meantime I purchased a XTi 3442 - VBox TV Gateway to test. Being In Australia its hard to find a suitable tuner available.

Yeah I know! Im trying to migrate my father from WMC to Plex DVR. WMC for DVB is great but I want to incorporate all his media into one frontend. Ive been running Plex for years myself without DVR but this will be the cherry ontop -
How is the VBox working out? I don’t know much about it except it should work with Plex.
I just ordered it today and its coming from NZ, as I said before hard to get supported tuners in Australia. I hope it works well as its a supported tuner. I will definitely keep you posted on its performance.
Ok so I received my VBox tuner and this is my opinion so far. Using Plex with Apple TV 4 (Non 4K) performance on HD channels is terrible unfortunately. I tried the offical VBox app the app and its terrible to use compared to Plex and same issue. I tried it on the new chrome cast with Kodi and pic quality is better and channel changing is quicker. Using Plex remotely on non HD channels works fine. I tried MrMC paid version and it just crashes trying to load channels so Im thinking the Apple TV is the issue.I also tried Plex on my LG TV running WebOs and HD channels are fine and pic quality is good. These are my findings so far and if anyone needs to know anything further feel free to ask.
