Help with trailers please 091217

Hi,

I been reading through everything I could find on trailers. My trailers work (I’m a lifetime supporter). However, I would like a trailer for the movie I am about to watch to show or show nothing at all. Not another movie I own.

Second question I have is how do I set up a trailer to a movie, I already have so that Plex will play that movie trailer and not have to search the internet?
Separate Folder “Trailers” or same folder only “movie name(2013)-trailer.mp4” ?

I use a QNAP Nas 453B and access it through my Windows 10 (64bit) computer.

Thank you for your time and effort assisting me address these 2 questions. I appreciated it.

I’m not sure why you’d want to do this, but you can always just click the trailer icon, watch it, then click play to watch the movie.

Well it would be easier to operate for my family members if they clicked on a movie see a trailer for the movie that is about to play to see if they wish to watch the movie.

Also, it would kinda be the next best thing to going to the movies.

If you click the trailer icon it’s a trailer of a movie you own not the movie you are about to watch… Try it out and you see what I mean.

Please post the Plex Mediainfo XML of one auch Movie that plays the wrong trailer.
We are talking about the trailer icon that appears on the preplay page of that particular movie, right?
Not the trailers that play automatically when you set the number of trailers to be played on the preferences of your Plex app!
If I remember correctly, when you go into a movie theater you will see trailers for other movies and not for the movie you are going to see. That’s what Plex tries to recreate.

Okay, I got this figured out now. Had to torture myself some more (lol). Got to commend the people who managed to put this together. It is without a doubt a great work of art.

Now I understand the way it works better, it left me with a different question. I want to have a trailer for my movies but I would like to set them up in a folder called “trailers”. Is this possible, that I can have Plex play the particular movie trailer that I have before the movie from a folder called trailers. Or do I have to set it up within the same folder as the movie? What do I need to do to name it properly to work?

This will stop Plex from streaming from the internet the trailers that may be of poor quality or a poor trailer…

Thanks for your patience with me.

A separate folder with all the trailers for all your movies in it is not possible.

You can add your own Trailer files to your movies (as well as other bonus video content).

However, you will never be able to automatically play the trailer for this movie. It will always choose a different trailer of the same ‘age classification’.
