Ok, I’m not really a tech person. I have my iPhone and my iPad linked to a server. I sync to download a movie and it just sits and says “waiting for server”. It never downloads. It use to but now it won’t. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled it. I’ve signed out and it. I’ve tried using wifi and my data. The server has been checked and confirmed I’m authorized to download. What am I doing wrong?
If you are getting a “waiting for server”, that means the server is ready to give you the file. You’ll need to look at the server to see why. PMS only syncs 1 file at a time, so it may be busy syncing something else. If the file needs to be transcoded first, there is an option in PMS to pause the conversion, maybe this is still paused.
I’m the server admin and how can I tell why Mike’s (the OP) sync isn’t working on his iPhone? I’ve allowed him to sync and everything. We can’t seem to figure this one out.

Your syncing for what reasons? Are you too far from your Wifi router? With an ipad and Iphone there should be no reason not to watch it streamed otherwise unless your watching away from your server.

Grab the server logs - they will hopefully reveal what’s going on. To aid in troubleshooting, first have him delete all pending sync jobs. Next, close the Plex Server, wait one minute, restart the Plex Server, wait two minutes, have him log in and try to sync some content. After it starts and it doesn’t seem to be progressing, go to the Plex Server settings → help, and download the logs. Attach them here on your next post.

Is Sync working for yourself or others?
