So, I just spent $150 for a lifetime plex membership. Have been touting this software to my wife as the way to go… this morning (12+ hours ago) I showed her how to pick movies, select them and sync them. 12+ hours later, the mobile app on her iPad is still stuck at 50%, Waiting for Server… it’s been this way since I started the sync. I picked 6 movies at the same time. iPad is running the current OS 9.3.2. I have a Synology NAS as my server. It shouldn’t be difficult… right? is there an issue doing more than 1 movie at a time? I can’t see how it would possibly take hours and hours without movie the bar at all…
My NAS is functioning just fine. I am streaming a movie right now on my Mac… I tried another movie on my Roku hooked up to my TV and it’s fine too. Would appreciate some help.
I find this a lot. What I do if there’s no movement after about 5 minutes is to select the first item in the list and pause it, then restart after 5-10 seconds. This often fired up the server again.
Another quick thing: if you optimise 1080p content on the server to 720p mobile, the content usually just downloads without transcoding first. With SD content, no need to optimise, just select “medium” quality on the iPad and again, transcoding is nearly always omitted.
I really hate “piling on” without offering any help but the fact is I have been having this problem as well. I had a glitch in my system and had to refresh all content on the server, which of course meant I had to sync all my content again to my iPhone. It finished transcoding (1 movie and 2 TV series) but it just sits at 50% with the “Waiting for server” message on the phone and “Waiting to be downloaded” message on the server. No movement in about 2 weeks. Does ANYONE have any suggestions?
I ranted in a number of other posts… all about the same issue. Seems like a problem with so many posts about the same exact issue and we don’t seem to be getting responses. I paid the $150 simply to “easily” sync content to my iPads… otherwise the free version was just fine. I paid the $150 so I wouldn’t have to do everything on iTunes with multiple iPads… i could let me kids and wife simply pick what they wanted. If only it was that easy.
I have this issue frequently, re-installation of client on iOS seems to fix the problem for a while. This has been an ongoing issue with Plex for quite a while, and somewhat annoying given this was the only feature I wanted to get access to with Plex Pass (I purchased lifetime just for this).
Next time it happens i’ll grab full debug information, however for me the symptoms are that I can still access the library and play content from the iOS app, however sync doesn’t work (even with files that don’t require transcoding), the client shows “50% Waiting” and the server shows “Waiting for download”.
Infact this just happened to me within the last 24 hours, hence I’m here seeing if someone has a fix yet. Uninstall the app on iPad, re-install and sync again, all is working.
Hope that we can get this process firmed up a bit more.
I have syncing issues as well. I’m running the latest versions of the PMS Android & iOS apps. Get’s stuck at 50% “Waiting to Download” the particular item is music @ 320kbps mp3 set to sync @ 320kbps no limit. So it really shouldn’t need to transcode anything. It just won’t copy to the devices. I have tried some of the tips mentioned above. I didn’t explicitly find anything about device syncing in the log but not really sure what I’m looking for. Seems to just be getting “stuck” not doing anything. All I really know is that it use to work just fine so I’m feeling like an update somewhere broke this.
