@yarascavitch any chance you can restart PMS and immediately grab logs? I want to make sure we are picking up your GPU
@chris_decker08 - here are the server logs.
Thanks!
Also something strange I just noticed - under the latest previous version, I used to be able to add an additional EPG Location for Live TV/DVR where I’ve circled in red, but that option now appears to be missing (or I’m going crazy)
@yarascavitch does your GPU appear under the drop down? I’m not seeing it recognized in your logs
Just updated I’m running a windows PC with the AMD 6800XT, but it still transcodes to h.264 on my Iphone 11
HEVC encoding is supported on macOS, Linux, Windows, and the Shield when using HW encoding with Apple, Intel, or Nvidia devices
@chris_decker08 - no, there is no GPU listed in the drop down for hardware transcoding device, just “Auto” is listed. Which is strange, because as you could see from my screenshot, Plex Transcoder is absolutely being used (and has been for years) in this setup as evidenced by nvidia-smi. I just thought that “Auto” was normal…
EDIT - additional information, not sure if it’s relevant. nvidia-smi run on the docker host (unraid) shows all the transcodes using my GPU, nvidia-smi run within the plex docker container shows no action.
Any clue why some movies are pink/violet on OLED and my s24u? Both support hdr but when I turn on hevc support they go pinkish…?
First of all → thank you so much, dear Chris, for your efforts! First the Windows tone-mapping, then the accelerated burn-in, and now HEVC. Simply amazing!
Regarding my experience: I’m running a PMS on Windows 11 Pro x64 (with an Intel i5-14500).
HEVC transcodes load super quickly and looks fantastic. HDR is correctly recognized by the TV. Only DoVi on my NVIDIA Shield results in a green screen. If I understand correctly, this issue is known. In my opinion, the DoVi layer should be ignored for now, as the whole thing is significantly more complex than static HDR metadata.
I’ve noticed one major issue. On all Android devices, playback fails if there are multiple versions of the movie. If you simply select Play (it usually picks the best version for encoding), an error occurs. However, if you use “Play Version” and select manually, it works. This is 100% reproducible.
@joloxx9 Your PMS is running on what os and you are using what device for transcodes?
@Schmitzke is this isolated to this build or is it present in the latest public as well?
Possibly this longstanding Android client issue: Multiple Version and Audio Transcode Issue on Android
TL;DR: Problem occurs when audio transcodes and subtitles are selected. Selecting “Play” results in endless spinning orange circle. If select version via Play Version, then movie plays OK.
TV manufacturer - LG, Sony, etc.?
Do the movies have Dolby Vision video? Look at the Media Info for them (three dots, Get Info). If they have Dolby Vision video, you’ll see D O V I entries in the right column.
If so, which profile - 5, 7, 8, etc.
I am running PMS on Qnap TS-264 and I use lg oled G3 with dopby vission support. Not sure why only after enabling hevc support colours go mad.

Just to help you out a little can you confirm that you have added --runtime=nvidia to the extra parameters field as well as added this variable to the docker configuration?
NVIDIA_VISIBLE_DEVICES is set to your GPU’s GUID listed withing the Nvidia Driver Plugin information?
Edit: If you’re using docker you also need to add NVIDIA_DRIVER_CAPABILITIES=all or plex won’t “see” your GPU even though it will still transcode to it.
@joloxx9 this may be related to the dovi issues on android. Do non dovi files play correctly?
But there is no android involved, lg got webos.
Since its dovi related the its possible the clients do not like the same thing
Plus you mentioned the same thing happens on your s24u which is android
