I am new on Plesk. I used DS Videostation on my Diskstation.
My HEVC test file on Plex don’t work. It crashs the playback after 2 seconds. On my research I tested several other files, own creations and downloaded files. Every files are crashed. But one file work! This file has no audio! So I recreate my own testfile without audio (but same configs on video) and it works! Now I take every audio option that handbrake gives me. MP3, AAC, AAC HD, AC3. Nothings works! The audio crashs the playback with my own and on other files! (Web player is ok, Apple TV and iOS crashs).
Then I tested a recreation with HEVC Quicktime: OK! Then I bought apple compressor and recreate my test file with audio and everything is ok…
Because many people use handbrake I post this information. I don’t now if this is a problem with handbrake or Plex, but maybe it will help somebody.
Sounds like an issue with the files you’re using as many of us HVEC everyday on many different clients.
That aside: When you say “crashed” are you talking about the server or the clients? Do you also mean the app/program actually crashes/closes and needs to be restarted?
The playback stops and restarts…
I tested several files from the internet, not only my own. The same problem. Only the file without audio worked, and now the files are reencoded with the apple compressor.
DEBUG log files (collect the ZIP file from Setting - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs) after playing for 30 seconds, stopping, then waiting 30 more for it to flush to logs.
Media Info (XML) from Hovering over the item → Ellipsis → Get Info → View XML. I need the media part at the top which shows all the codecs and streams in the file. I do not need cast / other info.
Which Synology is in use?
To avoid confusion, the codec is HEVC, High Efficiency Video Codec.
I hope you find the information here… I have a DS218+ with 10GB Ram.
And I cannot play 30 seconds… The stream closes after 2 seconds, so I repeat it 3-4 times.

Ok ich check the zip included files for personal informations and then upload it.
BUT: What ist Verbose Off? And, I repeat it, can >not< play the media for 30 seconds! It crashed after 2 seconds! Or I don’t understand your commands.
Sorry we must stop here… In the logs are file titles and I rename my photos and my videos with the geolocations. In the logs are also local network information I don’t want to see in the internet.
Wenn you told me which files you need I anonymize the files. But to do this with every file needs a long time.
This is a routine thing that everyone does for support. If it makes you feel better/more secure then PM the zip log file to Cayars and ChuckPA who are trying to help you.
Without logs, it’s very difficult for us to see why the Plex software is doing what it’s doing.
Verbose OFF: This is the setting that determines the level of logging and how much info is actually logged. Verbose is very “chatty” and logs an extreme amount of data that is normally not needed. It makes reading the logs difficult. It can be useful at times when something specific is in question. Then usually you will be instructed to run X procedure to get to Y. Turn on Verbose. Do Z and then turn off Verbose.
Verbose from a user perspective should only be turned on when instructed and only used for a minimal amount of time *usually" but will always come with instructions from someone trying to help you. Generally it’s not needed or wanted in he logs.
You can find this setting in the admin portion of the web interface under settings/general (with the advanced tab enabled). Option is labeled “Enable Plex Media Server verbose logging”
You want that UNCHECKED.
Please play the file for however long it will play.
Then wait the 30 seconds to ensure all error info is in the log file,
Lastly download the logs and attach the ZIP (or you may PM it to me with a link to this thread)
