HEVC not direct playing on Galaxy Tab A SM-T510

Files which are HEVC do not play on my tablet, but play on MiBox S and Galaxy S7 with no problems.

On the tablet I get a get yellow circle spinning. If I use VLC as an external player with plex the files play with no problem.

I have the exact same isue with Galaxy Tab A SM-T510.
Plex will not play HEVC x265 Main 10 (10 bit). Note that HEVC 93 Main (non-10 bit) play fine.

Both 10 bit and non-10 bit play fine through VLC on Galaxy Tab A SM-T510.

Also having this problem on SM-T510, I however get no error, and the content simply never loads.

Edit: the suggestion of using VLC as an external player worked for me! Thanks.
