i got the tray app and upon clicking that i am redirected to what appears to be the local version , so how do i use the web version as plex recomends for updates ect ? is the easiest way to just bookmark Plex ? then go to that when i need to use the web version ? many thanks guys any responses be appreciated ,

Depending on the OS you are using, some platforms, like NAS boxes etc. use that for initial claiming.
After that, it should no longer be needed, unless the PMS can’t reach plex.tv

so local then should only be used for initial set up ? im confused as the local version offers me the same “check for updates” button as the web one does and i dont see any difference ?
It’s just not worth worrying about.
I use local almost always, but once every now and again a new feature may only be monitored in the Plex.tv version whilst it’s in beta. I think either the skip intros or end credits whilst in beta started by requiring the Plex.tv version to monitor progress.
Basically 99% of the time it makes no difference at all from what I have seen in the last 7 or 8 years

thanks dude , how about the application updates can this be done in local too ?
The bundled (local) version is updated as part of the Plex Media Server update, though as pointed out earlier this doesn’t necessarily follow the updates of the hosted version immediately.
Assuming your server setup is complete and there’s no major internet outage, you should be good to go with the hosted version of Plex Web.
but why would i want to use plex web over the local ? i see no difference in the 2 would the only difference be a beta update if i used the web version ?
PMS ? ive said im new i have no idea what thats supposed to mean
is plex web still ok to use for uploading movies to it or would i need to use the tray app for that (local)? thanks for responses guys

You do not upload media to a Plex Media Server
Your media is in your Filesystem on the computer - in your case on the Windows PC you are running Plex Media Server on
