Hibernate windows

Please add option to hibernate Windows into Plex HTPC.

Are you referring to the options when exiting Plex HTPC?

Hi tom80H, yeah, in that menu where I have options to close it, restart, suspend. Can you add there option to hibernate?

I have a PC with all my multimedia, I use it only for movies / tv shows all stored on HDDs and streaming services. When I finish watching I want to be able to hibernate it to save electricity.

For that PC I use a remote. Right now when I press in Plex shutdown, next day when I want to use it again I need to manually push button on PC case, load all apps etc. and then turn on Plex with my mouse click. Before I switched to Plex HTPC I was using Kodi and there was an option to hibernate it, so I could just wake it up by pressing one button on my remote and instantly come back to Kodi. Please add this options it will save a lot of time to users like me.

I love HTPC version, great job guys, really great :+1::+1::+1:

What kind of remote do you use?

I use a flirc with an old Tivo slide remote I had lying around

With flirc you can program a key on the remote to trigger any action you can make a desktop or keyboard shortcut for on Windows.

I’m not saying Plex shouldn’t or won’t add this feature. But given how most feature requests go, I’m not gonna hold my breath lol

Spending 20 bucks might save some aggravation

In the meantime, you can have Plex start up automatically when the system is turned on.

Right-click Plex HTPC in the start menu, select More , and then select Open file location . This opens the location where the shortcut for Plex is.

With the file location open, press the Windows key + R and type shell:startup then select ok

Copy and paste the shortcut to Plex HTPC into the startup folder.

There is a setting in HTPC “general” to keep Plex on top of other Windows

That would at least eliminate you from having to mess with your mouse or other apps

Hi, I am using something like this one on screenshot,

Flirc would probably work fine with it but still simplest solution would be just to hibernate system.

Auto starting with windows is a good thing, I will add it asap, thanks for that, simple and very helpful :+1:
