Playing movies from a headless server

Server Version#: 1.25.6.5577-c8bd13540-x86
Player Version#: 1.41.0.2876-e960c9ca

I am a newbie to Plex. A few days ago I installed Plex server for W10 on a headless (no screen, no keyboard, no mous) Hystou machine. Then I installed the player.

The videoprojector as well as the sound system are connected to the PC. It works really fine except… I have to use TeamViewer to access the player and start the movies… Actually ot very convenient!

I suspect I did something wrong because I haven’t understood the Plex philosophy. Could someone help me the go back the the right track?

Thanks,

François-Xavier

I suppose you might want to use the Plex HTPC app for that use case and configure your Windows machine to autostart the app on startup.

Plex HTPC is designed to be used in a „big screen“ use case while Plex for Windows is a regular desktop app.

Then you can install the Plex app on your mobile decide and use it as a remote. A bit buggy right now but it gets the job done.

I have installed Plex on my Android phone but I did not get how to start the Plex app of my headless Pc that is connected to the videprojector. COuld you please explain how to do it?

Do that. Then use Plex Mobile app to control.

Many thanks! It works very well. Exactly what I was looking for.
