Hello!

I like to rip the extras from my BluRay discs and use them in the standard folder configuration that Plex suggests, and keep the majority of my extras in a sub folder next to each of my movies. For example I have a folder called “The Goonies” and inside that folder I have the loose MKV file with the year in the file name (for example: The Goonies (1985).mkv" which works, and alongside that folder, I have a “Behind the Scenes” folder with loose mkv files like “Trailer” and “Featurette” in them.

The issue I have, is that my “Recently Added in Movies” collection on the Plex main page, indexes those “extras” and because they don’t have artwork (and can be quite numerous), they are an eye sore.

Please see attached and if you are aware of something wrong in my workflow, I appreciate any suggested fixes.

Many thanks.

From the looks of it Plex must have something mixed up when you added those movies / extras. Local extras don’t show as own movie instances – e.g. not on those hubs.

Would you mind sharing the exact naming of your files for one of the movies whose extras are showing as Recently Added Movies (naming and folder structure from the folder linked to your Plex library). Thanks!!

I’ve had this issue on occasion, and I think there are a few other reports in the forums. If I recall correctly, this is what I’ve generally done to fix:

  • move the extras out of the library folders
  • rescan the library
  • empty the trash
  • move the extras back into the movie directory

At that point they’re usually identified correctly on the next library scan. I’d need to experiment again to be sure, but I think it’s more likely to happen if I’ve placed the movie and extras into the library folders at the same time.

Are you triggering the library scan with a command line or per the http API?
If you do, the “partial library scan” preference doesn’t properly exclude local extras.

Thank you to all who replied here. I was able to fix it by implementing what was suggested here. Move the extras out. Rescan the library. Move the extras in. Moving forward, I’ll wait to move the extras in the folder (I had been doing it altogether).

Appreciate all the help!
