I’m not sure if i’m doing something wrong as i’m a bit of a noob when it comes to this. I just installed Plex on my new Synology 981+ and immediately wanted to test some videos. So i went to my iPhone 10 Max, opened up the Plex app and played a few 1080 MKV movies… i selected “play original xxx” with all the files i tested. But when looking at the synology web interface, everytime i play a movie the CPU load skyrockets to 95%+? Is that right? Shouldn’t “direct play” be less CPU intensive? I see people on here transcoding 4k 10bit on synology 918+… how is that possible? Thanks, Arnold
Thanks so much! I just purchase Plexpass and enabled hardware acceleration and it now works like a charm. full 4k 10bit can be decoded with only 25%ish load. Amazing software, love Plex, so glad it was an easy fix!
