Server Version#: 1.25.4.5468 and 1.25.4.5487
Player Version#: Plex Web 4.73.3
I’m hosing the Plex server on my Synology DS920+ (8GB RAM) with DSM 7.
Yesterday I noticed that streaming via Plex web causes an very high CPU load (up to 95%), even with SD content without encoding. The memory consumption keeps stable and seems not to be affected.

SRT subtitles will not be burned in unless requested by the player.
Check player setting for ‘Subtitles: Automatic’
Tanks for your fast response!
I guess you mean “Burn Subtitles”? This option is already set to automatic. Please find below the settings that are in use:

Try this… “Other videos”.
Transcoding and Tonemapping (for web players and non-HDR devices) will engage
I don’t get the correlation with HDR since the content and client are not supporting HDR.
Today it took a while to reproduce the issue, but it is definitely related to the subtitles. As soon as I disable them the CPU usage will drop. Sometimes the load will also drop by its own after some time.
The wired thing is that during the time of the high load there is no subtitle visible.
At least I can say that the load is reduced to 25% now, it looks like Plex web has been updated to version 4.74.1 and maybe it include the fix.
