Hisense H65U7B - Plex not able to connect to server

Hi dear community;

Plex worked very well until 2 weeks ago on a Hisense TV (H65U7B)

We bought the TV less than a year ago.
(keep in mind that the TV in question is not on the local network)

Plex works well from other terminals from that LAN (which is different from server one).
On the Hisense TV it refuses to load the server content on the TV (authentication ok but no content from server).

I tried to disconnect and reconnect: it did not work.
I wanted to uninstall the application on the TV but a message tells me that PLEX is pre-installed and that it cannot be removed (and I think that consequently the possible updates are done automatically as there’s no option for that).
Plex TV version is 3.13.14

I didn’t notice the VIDAA version but I did think to check that there was no update.

Here is the error I get (sorry it’s in French)

From what I’ve read here and there, it could be a security issue that causes the connection to be denied. However, in the articles I read about it, it requires going to settings > network > and changing a setting that is NOT present on the TV…

On the server side, I have the “preferred” option for Secure Connections.

(I’m sorry to create this topic all other similar looks closed)

Only Hisense running the U4 system software is supported. Plex for VIDAA (Hisense televisions) - #30 by markus101

Your screen shot indicates that the Plex app on your device is ancient and is not supported anymore.
The last nail in its coffin was the recent expiration of an important security root certificate: Important information about Plex for smart TVs after September 30, 2021

It is thus a definitive end for Plex on this TV!
Thanks for your answer

I have the exact same Hisense app and started to get that message today. Yesterday it worked fine. Even watched a whole movie.
My server and TV are in the same local network and I deactivated secure connections on the server.
The TV app doesn’t have any setting to disable secure connections.

Is it supposed to work because it is on LAN?
On my browser, I can just type the IP and access Plex web with http (not https).

Would love to have a guide for this to work on LAN. :frowning:

@OttoKerner here are some things I’ve tried:

  • add the local ip of the Hisense TV on the IP addresses whitelist of the server
  • set the server ip and port manually on the Hisense Plex app
  • set secure connections to “Preferred” (not “required”)

Even with all of this I still see the screen that @TabasKo posted on the initial post: Hisense H65U7B - Plex not able to connect to server

I assume it should work, because if I type http://192.168.0.141:32400/ on my browser I can access the web interface just fine. Without https.

Do you have any ideas on why this old Hisense TV can’t connect?

Hi Plex is no more supported by these SmartTV (and many others).
Just buy a fire stick 4k… that’s what I have done after fighting two weeks.
