Hisense Smart TV's

Server Version#: 1.20.1.3252
Player Version#: Plex for VIDAA 3.13.14

My setup was working 100% until a couple of days ago when i launched Plex on my TV and i got a message “… is offline or unreachable”. I have not changed any settings, done any updates and can now not get the TV app to connect to the server… Am i alone in this problem ??

I suspect your tv supports no modern connection encryption and is therefore no longer supported.
There’s been an announcement approx 1 month ago that this will happen to older models

ah ok… I see. I missed that notification.

Thank-you so much for the prompt response !!!

Quick question though… when they say older Hisense TV’s… how old do they mean. My TV is less than a year old.

Well, that’s annoying. Just had the same issue as OP, so I’m guessing that’s why. I haven’t even had my Hisense TV a year.

Same thing with me. Got a Hisense TV in Feb Advertised as the official sponsor of UEFA Euro 2020. And now my Plex app does not work. The TV was only launched in September last year. This is not cool

I’ve been trying to find some technical information from Hisense or their Vidaa platform to verify if their platform does support newer versions of the TLS protocol. The old versions that Plex is now no longer supporting have officially been deprecated / discontinued earlier this year. That makes me wonder why Hisense would stick with those.
That being said… I couldn’t find any documents, specs or even forum posts.

If this is really impacting models sold in 2020 you could try to reach out to their customer support. Not sure about their software update policies… but it’s worth a try.

Alternatively you could go with a streaming box / stick. Even the entry level models usually have better software support than what you get from smart tv vendors (speaking from personal experience).

This should be fixed now

Really Big Wheel? You fixed it for hisense too??

Wow! Yes confirmed. Fixed for my 2020 hisense! Amazing! Thankyou @bigwheel

@BigWheel are you able to confirm which models this affects? A 2020 Hisense 50S8 is still experiencing the same issue.

I have a 55u7qftuk… 3 days old and Im getting the security error.

Do we need to do something to get the fix? Tv wont give me an OS update.

i have the same issues.

what is needed our end to recitify this

@BigWheel

Thank-you for your confirmation but I am still having the same problem. our 2 Hisense TVS are both 2020 purchases. Their model numbers are B8000 (65" ULED) and B7100 (50" ULED). Would really appreciate you assistance as we use Plex a lot and would be very disappointed if this can not be reolved.

This started happening to my Hisense also. I tried lots of different things which didn’t work, but this worked for me.

Settings > Application Settings > Clear Cache

The Problem is not your TV it is the plex app, which is not updated on VIDAA U OS. I also have a Hisense TV, And I really don’t understand why they don’t update their apps

Now it wont “link”. It says try again but on the plex web it seems linked.

Remove link and re-link.

I have tried that as well. I says it it linked successfully but then immediately jumps to the screed with the messages "… offline or unreachable.
